COVID-19: Senior Medico, Pregnant lady among 80 test positive in J&K, tally rises to 1569 | KNO

Srinagar, May 23 (KNO): A senior doctor posted in north Kashmir’s Bandipora and a pregnant lady were among 80 fresh cases tested positive for covid-19 in J&K, taking toll of positive cases in the UT to 1569. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reveals that among new 80 cases that were detected in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday 39 were tested positive at SKIMS, 14 at CD hospital, 7 at Army's command hospital Srinagar and rest at other private labs. Among 80 new cases, 59 belong to Kashmir division while as 21 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 1330 including 702 recoveries and 19 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 239 including 72 recoveries and 2 deaths. They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 774 including 609 from Kashmir division and 165 from Jammu division while as total number of recovered cases in Jammu and Kashmir is also 774. "Cases tested positive in J&K include 6 from Anantnag, 5 from Kulgam,3 from Srinagar,1 from Bandipora,4 from Baramulla, 36 from Kupwara  and 4 from Pulwama in Kashmir division while as 21 from Jammu including 4  from Jammu, 1 from Kuthua, 14 from Ramban, and each from Kishtiwar and Poonch," officials disclosed. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for coronavirus at SKIMS told KNO that out of 3500 samples tested in last 24 hours, 39 were found positive, among them 35 are from Kupwara, 02 from Srinagar, one from Pampore and one from Baramulla. Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO that out of 620 samples tested at CD Hospital in last 24 hours, 14 were found positive while as reports of 200 samples are under process besides that 450 more samples were received on Saturday at the hospital. He added that among 14 new cases, six belong to Anantnag, 4 from Kulgam, 3 from Pulwama and one from Srinagar. The cases from Anantnag include 63 year old female from Zalangam, 40 and 42-year-old women from Imola, 53 and 24 year-old-male and 62-year-old lady from Imoh Anantnag, he said, adding that patients from Kulgam include 20- year-old pregnant lady from Kariwa Kulgam, female from Khaloora Kulgam, 40-year-old female and 65-year-old male from Khaloora Kulgam besides that 13 and 36-year-old males and 34-year-old female from Reshiepora and 50-year-old female from Habbak Dargah, Srinagar. He further added that patient from Habbak is a doctor posted as Deputy CMO Bandipora. Officials at JVC Bemina said that all 433 samples that were tested at the hospital on Saturday were found negative. Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army's Command Hospital Udhampur told KNO that in last 24 hours over 1720 pooled and 15 unpooled samples were tested at the hospital, among them one traveler each from Kishtiwar and Udhampur and 05 students from Ramban were found positive. Meanwhile with the death of 55-year-old woman from Uranhal area of Anantnag district(as per revenue), the death toll of covid-19 positive patients in J&K has reached to 21 including 19 from Kashmir and 2 from Jammu division. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for COVID-19 at SKIMS said that the woman was admitted to the hospital’s isolation facility and had underlying ailments including chest infection.  "Lady had tested positive for the novel coronavirus before few days and died on Saturday morning at SKIMS” he said. As per officials figures 272 positive cases including four deaths and 109 recoveries are from Anantnag, 179 including six deaths and 119 recoveries are from Srinagar, 198 including two deaths and 12 recoveries are from Kulgam, 139 including one death and 129 recoveries are from Bandipora, 136 including 98 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 127 including 106 recoveries are from Shopian,  164 including 70 recoveries are from Kupwara, 63 including 35 recoveries and two deaths are from Budgam, 27 including 15 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 25 including 9 recoveries are from Pulwama. In Jammu division, 72 including 31 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 41 including 06 recoveries are from Kathua, 33 including 01 death and 21 recoveries are from Udhampur, 44 including 01 recovery are from Ramban, 20 including 7 recoveries from Samba, 10 including 04 recoveries from Rajouri, 06 from Poonch and 04 with 01 recovery in Reasi, 08 from Kishtwar including 01 recovery and 01 from Doda. As per the daily information bulletin 130,197 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 32,056 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 774 persons are in hospital isolation while as 74 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 70,586 persons have completed surveillance period and 26,686 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 124,074 samples are available. Out of 124,047 the number of samples tested negative stands at 122,505 while as 1569  have been tested positive, among them 774 are active and 774 persons have recovered and 21 persons have died—(KNO)
